Quick Tips - Instant special characters
• If you use special characters a lot in text documents such as the half or quarter symbols, it makes sense to memorise the keyboard shortcut rather than having to paste from the Character Map.
- Go to Character Map (it's in Accessories > System Tools), check the Advanced view (if it's unchecked) and click the desired character. You'll see the keyboard shortcut appear in the bottom right hand corner. Now when you need your symbol, make sure that [Num Lock] is turned on, hold [Alt] and type the combination into the numeric keypad.
